Howdy y’all! Back in the saddle, yee-haw! Well – sort of. As Ayms is sure to be tellin’ you up there in the big chair, we ain’t about to commit to no fancy-schmancy “schedule” again just yet. It don’t matter none. Compared to our little nap, we’re fit as pair of fiddles at a barn dance!
Well, as for Mits in the strip, y’can draw your conclusions, yeah? What I will say is this: anything that gets me writing is right proper okay in my book. Acourse there’s more to it’n that, but I ain’t about to preach. If you’re in the know and find yourself over in the right places – such as EqD – it might be that the name Cloudy Skies isn’t unfamiliar to me. Just, well. With all due respect, don’t come crying ‘ter me if it ain’t your speed, is all.
I’m not gonna bore you with much more talk, but I just made something wonderful and awesome sound like a dreary and terrible thing, and that just ain’t right.
Fact is, I feel I’ve learned more ’bout writing in the past four months than I have in all the years that came ‘afore. I’ve met some wonderful people, and I like to think I’ve changed for the better as a person. I’m bloody happy, and I am rearing to write again. Rather, let’s make that “again and still”. Writing’s been all I’ve been doing lately, and now? Season 2 of 4th Wall is here!
And no, I’ve no idea why I wrote that in a horribly mangled not-quite-Southern accent.
Well okay, maybe I do.
In other news: The new house-place-area is awesome, and Delta is the cutest dog ever. She continues to try to get me past my hygiene-related OCDs by washing my face every now and then. Yay dog spittle! Thank you, Delta.
In defense of Mits, the original one is actually less wordy! This one has 82 words, and the one before has 62. Yes, I counted, because I’m apparently, well, insane. Let’s just go with “curious”.
Don’t let the tl;dr-ers get you down, Mits!
Sorry, 84, if my math is correct.
Ah! But if you defend me, then I (tragically and fatally) must provide a counterpoint; One shouldn’t really count the first panel, as that’s merely an explanation, a preface, if you will!
All the same, I am not so much scared that you counted them as I am disappointed in that I didn’t count them myself.
Honestly, Catalyst, I counted three or four times and got different counts on both pages each time. (though today’s consistently came out ahead)
If you’re going to eliminate some panels because they didn’t count as part of the comic, I’d contend that a better way of measuring anyway would be the average number of words per panel. (after all, one comic may have more panels than another, thus making it contain more total words even though it is less wordy overall) If you conduct the measurement this way, you’ll find that today’s comic is, with or without the “preface panel,” on average more wordy per panel than Sunday’s.
Also, the art is improving recently. When did you go from flats to shading?
Yeah, I counted quite a few times as well because I kept losing my place. Oh well, just throwing that out there!
And I’ll second the last part; I hadn’t noticed until Bloo pointed it out. The comics are all shady! In a good way.
Well, in our defence, our IDEA was less wordy! And then Mitsune happened. Do you see why I have to tie him up?
Also, thanks! I’ve had a bit more spare time lately as the most stressful part of my job is over (this semester, at least), so all of a sudden – shadows happens! Of course, now I kinda wanna go back and fix all the other strips so they match but that kind of time is still beyond my reach.
I WANT TO TAKE THEM BOTH HOME AND CUDDLE THEM. And then steal geekgirl’s body because she looks very much like I’ve always wished I could look. (I don’t have the body for it. No one argue with me – I have far too much mass in the hood and the bonnet.)
BOOT and bonnet. damn lack of caffeine, where’s my coffee? *sulk*
Harsh! When did you guys get so cynical?
It’s not so much a visual presentation of a deeply held belief so much as a comment on how it feels, some of the time, I swear!
The message I, atleast, want to send, is “Christ, people, can’t we let everyone aboard the Geek Train – everyone who wants a ride – and be happy? Sweet! Yay cookies!” ^^
Edit: Wrote raid instead of ride. I find this incredibly appropriate.
Everyone wants to be part of the special “exclusive” club, so denying others entry makes some people feel better about themselves.
Oh God, Mit’s eyes. THEY’RE SO FUCKING AWESOME!
I can only wish that my eyes could burn with such hatred some day.
I remember when being a nerd was about collectively acknowledging that fantasy was awesome, wonderful, sexy and just generally preferable company to most of society. I don’t think this changed – the nerds are still nerds. Problem is now, the hipsters are trying to be nerds, but like most hipsters, are more impressed with labels and that odd avoiding-while-adhering thing they do than the content.
My point is thus: Wear a tri-force, frag well and burn the hipsters.
Also, SW > ST.
Ok… I think I get it now.
Mits is a guy, but his character in the game/comic is a girl. Or am I completely off base? >.<
Also – young Aymee… *faint*
I’m pretty sure that’s exactly right.
What? Young Aymee? where? o.o
*ahem* But yes, the journey to enlightened geekdom has proved so far to be a big, confusing contradiction to me. Frankly, I *almost* don’t really give a damn where I fit in the scheme. Yes, I still play all the old Pokemon games from first generation onwards, I still find immense glee in struggling my way through the old levels of LoZ:OoT that I could never get the guts to complete as a little elementary schooler, I can watch the original Star Wars trilogy and not worry about flak from Trekkies or what have you, I cannot recall a single month where I have not gone with a good two or four volumes of silly magical girl or shonen manga stuffed in my bag, and yes, I have even been known to parade shamelessly through the school hallways garbed in the full Organization XIII cloak (sans the wig…stupid broke jobless highschooler budget T_T) or kitty ears or WoW t-shirts (yes, even interchanging between the Horde and Alliance shirts as the mood strikes me.)
…note the *almost*. Take a step back, and also take into consideration that my smalltown residence doesn’t exactly provide much opportunity for major geekdom clashes. So of course I do end up clamming up and mumbling my way around my activities whenever I do happen across a more hardcore “seen it all, done it all” geek.
Ours is an seclusive sort of courage–unless you can coax it out into the middle of the park to feed from your hand and socialize with the other little courage squirrels, it remains pretty much in the bushes and gloats to itself. >__>)
…phew. I’m starting to get the sense that my rambling is getting looser and looser as it goes on.
Just my 2 cents, they’re both great. While maybe the original wasn’t very comic friendly with heavy text, it still carried the rant that a lot of gamers, geeks, nerds, what have you feel at one point or another. Maybe it’s just me but the rant was great
of course version 2.0 with a different representation of the same message is just as great, but its not as cool as the first version, cause the first one will always be better, and if you like the second version, you aren’t as cool as people who like the first.
The second version is far superior and I will fight anyone, God or man, that says otherwise.
I’d like to point out to all the Worgen haters that werewolf lore has been around for CENTURIES! People need to read better books. XD Mits angry-face is priceless. ;-D
